Greater Bethel Missionary Baptist Church Mission:

To work for our Lord until His great return. We are a church of baptized born again believers in Christ Jesus striving to be an example of Him in every way. We want to let our little lights shine so that men, women, boys and girls can see our goods works and glorify our Heavenly Father. We are committed to teaching the word of God, helping those in need of spiritual guidance as well as social economic welfare; praying for deliverance and strength to overcome obstacles that impede lives. Yes we, the church of the once crucified and risen Savior, want to tell everybody about the saving power of Jesus Christ. We are a church that welcomes sinners who wants to be saved by the renewing of their mind in Christ Jesus. Amen.

Brief History

GBMBC was organized by Rev. Victor L. Lee under the divine order of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Her first service was held on Sunday May 7, 2000 in the DAV Building located at 8787 Old Santa Fe Road.

There were a total of 9 in attendance: Pastor Victor Lee, Sharon Lee, Opal Mckenzie, Pinky Cooper, Kentrell Lee, Kortney Lee, Victor Lee II, Ivey Lee, and Briceson Lee. The first member to join the Greater Bethel's church family was Kortney O'Dell Lee. In the months to come, several more souls were added increasing Greater Bethel's membership considerably.

Greater Bethel held her ground breaking ceremony on her new church building site. While worshipping at the DAV Building, God continued to pour down his blessings on the Greater Bethel Baptist Church family. January 2003 – Greater Bethel moved her worship site to the Broadview Christian Fellowship Hall located at 9101 Blue Ridge Blvd. Moving to this new location allowed Pastor Lee to establish several programs to further the biblical knowledge of the members of Greater Bethel church family (Wednesday Night Bible Study and teachers meeting). August 2003 – Pastor Lee gained approval from the city of Kansas City, MO to begin construction. Construction of the Greater Bethel Baptist Church started in September 2003 and was completed in October 2004. Pastor Victor Lee, Ralph Lee (his father), Bro. Billy Hawthorne, Bro. Ralph Lee Jr., Bro. Jim Smith, Bro. Kentrell Lee, Bro. Jeff Shelby, Bro. Isaiah Washington, Bro. Willie Carter and others worked diligently throughout 2003 – 2004 to complete construction. By God's Grace, Sunday October 3, 2004 Greater Bethel held her first service in her new facility. She held her ribbon cutting services throughout the months of October, November, and climaxed out on the 3rd Sunday in December. December 2004, May 2006, Greater Bethel dedicated the Fellowship Hall naming it Harvey Kemper Fellowship Hall. Pastor Lee organized the GB Trustees. Nov.

The Church has continued to grow under the divine guidance of God and the dynamic leadership of Pastor Victor L. Lee. Greater Bethel stands firm on the conviction and belief that all things are possible with God as we continue to glorify and lift up the name of Jesus. Dedicated members of the Church have joined together to celebrate 14 years through THE ETERNAL WORD OF GOD.

Our Pastor

Rev. Victor L. LeeOrganizing Pastor of Greater Bethel M.B. Church

Pastor Victor L. Leewas born in North Little Rock, Arkansas to the parents of Ralph and Helen Lee. He is the third of four children. He accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior under the leadership of Rev. I.V. McKenzie at the Holy Cross Baptist Church in Little Rock, AR. He attended Philander Smith College; however, he obtained his undergraduate degree from Columbia College in Business Education. He has also studied at Carver Bible College, Sterling College and was mentored by Pastor McKenzie. Pastor Lee met his wife (Sharon) while he attended Philander Smith College and through a brief courtship, they were married and to their union five sons were born.

Pastor Lee accepted his calling into the ministry in 1987 under the leadership of the late Rev. I. V. McKenzie of the Paradise M.B. Church. He is the second generation of preachers. His grandfather the late Rev. O.D. Johnson was the pastor of the Walnut Grove Baptist Church in N. Little Rock, Arkansas. Rev. McKenzie named him his assistant pastor in 1997 where he served until Rev McKenzie demise. Pastor Lee in conjunction with other ministers around the city was also very involved in the prison ministries. They visited various institutions throughout the state of Missouri teaching and preaching the Word of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

In 1990, Pastor Lee was called to pastor the First Baptist Church of Brookfield, MO. For ten years Pastor Lee commuted from Kansas City to Brookfield with his family preaching and teaching the gospel to the members of First Baptist. He was a faithful and dedicated servant of the Lord and the people of Brookfield. God truly blessed his steps. While in Brookfield, Pastor Lee served as the Mt. Zion District Secretary for several years. He taught the Old Testament in the Mt. Zion Annual Sessions. He was also a strong advocate for the nursing home and sick and shut-in ministry. He and the members of the First Baptist church family ministered to all the local nursing homes on a monthly basis.

In April 2000, Pastor Lee organized the Greater Bethel Missionary Baptist Church under the divine order of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Her first service was held on Sunday May 7, 2000 in the DAV Building located at 8787 Old Santa Fe Road.

Although there are many scriptures that are near and dear to him, Pastor's Lee favorite scripture is found in the book of Joshua 24:15. “And if it seems evil unto you to serve the Lord, choose you this day whom ye will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell; but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”
